Super Mario Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) Hi- The is my first build post after perusing the site for tips and tricks for many months in which I have learned a ton (still need to try BMF and airbrushing). The first pic is where I got the idea to build a scaled up replica. Its the same size as a Hot Wheels and made by Johnny Lightning, the Fright'ning Lightning series back in the 90's. There are lots of color variations of the Ecto 1A, silver, blue/green, green, orange and a white Halloween edition but I think the orange and black look the best. I have collected them all with the exception of the white lightning series...The proton pack was printed from plans on thingiverse.com The kit is the Round2 AMT Ecto 1a. I used Vallejo for the roof rack, tamiya for the light bars and testors spray can for the body. Any comments on how to improve are welcomed. Edited November 7, 2016 by Super Mario
Funkychiken Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Off the wall weired, and high quality finish, I like it!
David G. Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Wow, that's actually fairly well done. Too bad it's not painted white.David G.
cobraman Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Looks like it matches the little one pretty well.
David G. Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Wow, that's actually fairly well done. Too bad it's not painted white. David G. Ohhh I thought it was a close-up of the small one. My mistake- sorry if that comment came across as less than nice. Now that I understand what I'm looking at, Excellent Job! Obviously a great match on the color. David G.

Really though the pictures hide a lot of imperfections. I do plan to build the original version, white, but with opening doors and hood.
72 Charger Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Nice work .You really should try BMF it will bring it to life
The Creative Explorer Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Wow, that's actually fairly well done. Too bad it's not painted white.David G.Why? They're all white, why not one that isn't? Diversity is also nice ;-)

Diversity is also nice ;-) The color variations were something created by the manufacturer to sell more units and had nothing to do with the Ghost Busters movies or cartoons, or anything else that I know of. I would probably (prolly) never build a pink Batmobile or a yellow and blue USS Enterprise, there are those who would, and that's fine. I'm just not one of them. I have nothing against "Diversity", I'm a stickler for "real life". David G.
Super Mario Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Thanks all for the feedback!Easier to see in some of the close up pics but I hand brushed the green on the windshield and side glass. Even though the Tamiya clear colors are very forgiving I may try again at airbrushing. I've heard some practice on spoons; I actually tried clear plastic dessert plates given more surface area but still no luck. Maybe next time.
