I want to build a 1969 Bud Moore Trans Am Mustang with the Fred Cady decals I recently acquired. There are 1970 Boss 302 Mustang kits available. My question is.......How different are the two years? Are they similiar enough to make an adequate representation of a 69 Bud Moore car?

Peace and love, (hippie lingo)

The biggest difference are the front end (four headlights vs. two) and the tail lights are very different.  If you want to make a 69 Boss 302 T/A you could use the MPC kit.  I've avoided making a 69 Boss due to the complexity of the paint scheme.  I had a 70 Boss T/A I've had in progress of years and it's stalled due to converting the engine compartment from a street car to a race version.  Whichever you do good luck.  There are many pictures of the 69 and 70 Bosses from back in the day and what they look like now at vintage races.

Yes, there are very visible differences between '69 and '70.

There is no really good '69 Mustang kit on the market right now. Revell did one (a Mach I) but the whole front end is badly shaped.

Then there is the AMT, ex-MPC kit. Its front end is MUCH better than the Revell, but it might have some shape issues elsewhere (such as the roof), and it's a bit undersized--I think about 1/27 scale.

Not long ago I ran across a fairly inexpensive diecast '69 Mustang. It looks pretty good overall. Its front end isn't perfect, either, but it's MUCH better than the Revell. If I wanted to do a nice '69 Mustang, I'd start with one of those.
