mschlem66n Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 IN a box stock build to take to shows can I tint the chrome, sand the tires (ie..drag tires ) ??? Thank you for your input
mschlem66n Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 When I say tint the chrome,I mean so it's not so toy looking ...
peter31a Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Every contest is different, Mark but coatings are allowed so I would thinking tinting chrome would be alright. Sanding the tires would pretty much be expected I would think as it's all part of doing a clean build.
D. Battista Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Rules may vary from the group hosting the competition...but generally .... only parts that came in that issue of the kit are allowed.... Paint - baremetal foil - different decals are also allowed .... sanding tires is no different than sanding any other part in the kit , like seams and mold lines, tinting chrome or windows would be part of the painting prosess.... Kit instructions are required to accompany the model in an out of the box catagory....hope this helps......
Russell C Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Scroll a short way down this page for what is termed "Box Plus" at the GSL contest: http://www.gslchampionship.org/competition-principles/ , for one such example.

Mark Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 In general, everyone here has been correct...only parts from the kit being entered, decals from other sources are allowed, bring the instruction sheet so the judges can see it. Usually, putty is allowed for filling imperfections but not for reshaping parts. Molding in kit-supplied customizing parts could go "yes" or "no". Why not decide which contests you are going to enter, then contact the clubs/organizations running those contests to get their specific rules?

I think the only other thing we allow is removal of extra molded-on details which are not present on the 1:1 vehicle.
