Hello,

The much anticipated new Ferrari has finally been revealed! The GT California is said to be the first Ferrari ever to have a front mounted V8. The 4.3 liter engine produces 460 hp. The car will have a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox.

The dual clutch concept seems to be gaining popularity

Now the question is: What company will bring it out the model first? :)

Thanks,

Rats! I finally find the perfect car for my mid-life crisis, and guess what- I can't afford to have a mid-life crisis (young blonds and red convertibles cost way too much money). Hmmm....maybe I can trade my ex-wife for one (or sell a kidney).

I'd have to say Fujimi will be the first to come out with this kit. I'd really like to see what the top looks like.

I'm still on the fence about the looks. Although I do see some resemblances here and there.

If it's produced I'll most likely buy.

Now, where's my Mclaren F1 road car kit...........

I thought if it didn't have a V12 it wasn't really a Ferrari? I remember reading something about how the company had some sort of internal policy about that, the V8 cars were technically not Ferrari's.

Good looking car though.

Well, the F1 Ferraris are 8 cylinders (as all F1 cars now), The F430 is an 8 cylinder. I think that went by the ayside years ago.

I love that it resembles the original california look at the hood scoop and grille on the new car. as for V8 this is true the first FRONT engine V8 ferrari but they had V8s in their cars since the 308 in the late 70s and then later the 328, the all new 348 (which was one of the first flops) it was later tweaked and refined into the GREAT F355 which was the first car to have 5 valves per cylinder. and then the current 360 modena and its updated version the current F430.

PS put me down for a model kit ill wait for the usa version of the eventual revell of germany kit

Normally a new Ferrari has me excited. This one? No way. The face is okay, the rest is a disaster. Looks like Lexus said to their worst designer "we need to make the SC430 a bit sportier" and this is what we got. A fugly looking car, ruined by the ginormous back end to hide the retractable hardtop for Beverly Hills housewives and part time real estate agents. Truly a sad day, could only be worse if it were an SUV. The Porsche Cayenne GTS looks better to me. I cannot believe I just said that  I cannot believe that it's absolutely true  The original California Spyder is a timeless beauty and classic. This car is the polar opposite, just a touch of retro in the front, and then a mishmash of throwaway gimmicks behind the front wheels.

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting the F430 Scuderia kit from Fujimi. It looks delicious.

I was actually hoping this was a post saying someone was doing a kit of the GT California Spider in your pic.

That's not a real Cal Spyder. It was a Chevy powered thingie/kit car.

This is a real Cal Spyder.

+1 Bob. And you know where I'm coming from

it is well known that the 'california' in ferris bueller is a replica but it was the only clear pic of a california that did not have the fog lamps in the grille like the new car does. I would LOVE a model of the old or the new california ;)
