We all have them....C'mon admit it!

Mine happens to be from another collection of "junk" I paid waaaay too much for.

From what I can tell, this is an original '65 AMT Corvette Roadster.

OK...all together now! "Son of Danger!"

Son of Danger!

George, I've enjoyed all of your graveyard posts.

Does this have a future? - it looks like it could be saved with the current Round 2 '63 Corvette as a donor car...

George, I recently brought back a '65 roadster that was worse than that one. At least that body isn't cut up.

Should be a cake walk for you.

He sure did. It's real...and it's spectacular! B)

George, that sweet '65 looks like a walk in the park. For a real challenge, try this original annual '63 coupe. :D

Ho Boy! I know a good dermatologist....

So, I was out and about yesterday and picked up a gallon of Super Clean. My tub of Pine Sol was pretty gross.

As you might suspect, "Son of Danger" went in for a swim! Bringing it back stock will be a challenge, so I'm thinking.... "Son of Danger II". Would be interesting, to say the least!

Maybe not. The fender vents look fine. If the emblems survive the Lye Swim (and they should), then that just leaves the rocker panels. And the factory side exhaust became available in '65, which covers most of the rocker, so if your rockers are glue-roached (which they probably are), you can cover them with the exhausts.

The AMT Vette roadster kit had separate seats for the first time in '65 (and the last time in '67), so you got THAT going for ya--will be much easier to strip and restore the guts if you can get the seats out. (I just resto-ed a '67 Coupe with 1-piece tub and ended up just squirting the whole hot mess in satin black.)

I'm not giving up on you YET, old friend....B)

Go get 'em George. I was rooting through the basement today, and I came across a '66 roadster body with no windshield frame, and some remnants of glue where a previous builder tried to weld the up top to the deck. Also I have an original '63 Roadster, with the revolving headlamps that is a little more of a glue-bomb, and a '64Fastback that has had all of the emblems shaved, and needs the paint to be stripped. I have a couple of un-built '63s where I can relieve it of the frame. I looked at the bodies, and they can be saved. Years ago, I bought a bunch of mid '60's AMT corvette junk, that will give me enough to possibly make three decent projects. If I do them, I am going to do them as AMT intended. Replica Stock Builds with the AMT parts. I like the Revell/Monogram kits better, but I can work with these without using a rare un-built annual kit, which can be very expensive.

A man after my own heart! I have its twin, and a complete set of original '66 custom parts. I'm going to put the custom frameless windshield on it, and build it as the kit Custom version--airfoil roll bar, funky side exhausts, custom grill, triple taillights and all. Also doing a '65 as the road race version, and will do another '66 as factory stock. And after all that, I might have enough junk left over to do a '66 as a dragster or street rat.

A '65 body with the funky '66 Custom parts mocked up on it:

The '65 body with '66 road racing parts including that groovy tonneau/driver (for slot car use).
