junkyardjeff Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Picked it up on a trade here and now to do something with it,I wish I could separate the wheels from the axles since those 70s wheels and tires need to go but I doubt it can happen so thinking about the chassis from the ZZ Top of 33 chopped top coupe kits and then some steel rims. Its complete except for one bumper and was built good.
iBorg Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Honestly I'd clean it polish it and add a bit of detail. You labeled it so right as a 70's build of a '34 Ford. This era of customs very well may be the next wave of customs. The rat rod thing has played out. The 50/early 60s may be near that point. This is the next big thing.
junkyardjeff Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 I would like to make it look like a 50s hotrod and loose the bumpers, since the frame still has the bumper brackets and in good shape I will find another chassis in case I would like to put it back to the 70s resto rod look. I have taken it apart enough so I can put the windows back in.
espo Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 The suspension is very delicate and you are correct removing the wheels may very well destroy the suspension. I don't know for sure if it would work, but maybe try some of the glue de-bonders on the market. That way if you can remove the wheels and tires you can move on to what ever else you have planed
junkyardjeff Posted July 23, 2017 Author Posted July 23, 2017 Kind of forgot about this one and thinking about just cleaning it up and putting it back togather.
Super28 Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Nice. If you get those wheels off let me know. I like them
bisc63 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Yea, I'd be happy to take those wheels off your hands, too!
Super28 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Yea, I'd be happy to take those wheels off your hands, too!Hey Rusty. How do you think those tires and wheels would look on my Dodge dart?
Tom Geiger Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Aha, procrastination wins again! I'd keep the ole Ford the way it is. Clean it up and put it on the shelf. It is a nice example. And that kit can be found cheap enough if you have the itch to build one... then you'd have two! And now that everyone wants the wheels, I'll bet Jeff decides he likes them!

bisc63 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Those wheels would look awful on your Dart, of course!!On my 57 Nomad, however...
junkyardjeff Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 As soon as I finish a 40 ford coupe I will decide if the wheels and tires stay,I do build a bunch as 50s hotrods so maybe a 70s era hotrod will be ok.
DumpyDan Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Nice kit, looks good. Like Mike said clean it keep it as is. I just rebuilt an original release Monogram 34 Ford.
Super28 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Those wheels would look awful on your Dart, of course!! On my 57 Nomad, however... Hey!
junkyardjeff Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 I am starting to glue it back togather and leave it as a 70s hotrod.
junkyardjeff Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Its glued togather except for the chassis since now that a hobby shop opened up that sells parts I am still going to see if I can find the suspension from the 90s kit.
