Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Thought this would be of interest for some. The Testors Ford is almost box stock. I just added side chrome trim the kit originally didn't have. Testors: 1948 Fords. Revell X Testors by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr Revell: 1948 Fords. ChrisBcritter Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) Thanks Tulio - these pictures are certainly worth a thousand words! Looking at these photos, I'm glad I sold off my IMC kit a long time ago. Even though the older kit was well-engineered for the time, Revell did quite well capturing the details on the new one (although I wonder if IMC did a better job with the rear bumper apron?). Looks like you could still get away with using the optional IMC parts on the Revell kit to make a '46. I bet you could work magic with the AMT 1/43 scale '48, too... espo Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Despite all the nay sayers on the Revell '48 Ford coupe this shows just how much better it is than the IMC kit.
Lunajammer Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Excellent. That answers many questions. Good job Tulio.
Intmd8r Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Both look great and each version seems to have some strong pionts.Question is - which one you (the builder) liked better?
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Thanks gentlemen!!! Thanks Tulio - these pictures are certainly worth a thousand words! Looking at these photos, I'm glad I sold off my IMC kit a long time ago. Even though the older kit was well-engineered for the time, Revell did quite well capturing the details on the new one (although I wonder if IMC did a better job with the rear bumper apron?). The rear splash shield on the Testors kit is incorrect for a 1947 and 1948 car, as it's in one piece. The Revell part is a tad big, but has the correct representation of the three parts. Both look great and each version seems to have some strong pionts. Question is - which one you (the builder) liked better? I liked the Testors kit better.
Dave Van Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Very cool THANKS!!! I picked up a Testors/IMC kit for the 46 trim I need to build my 1/1 car.....so there is still good things in that Testors kit!!
stavanzer Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 After seeing this, I need to dig out my Testors kit and compare for my self. Thanks for the pics.
