Jon Haigwood Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Anybody watching the Mecum Auctions ? The no5 Batmobile did not sell yesterday but the Bat Cycle sold for $23K. Another(?) Batmobile goes on the block today https://www.mecum.com/auctions/kissimmee-2017/live/
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I watch it quite often. There always seems to be repeats of older ones on NBCSN in my area & it beats the hell out of watching carp like "Duck Dynasty"!! Steve
espo Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I was watching last night when a beautifully restored '57 Dodge pick-up crossed the auction block. $150k !!! Really. I know that the post war pick-ups are getting hotter and hotter but this is very eye opening.
Jon Haigwood Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) I was shocked today a 70 Superbird unrestored with only 9,880 miles looked like it was off the show room floor with the Hemi (most were 440's) only went up to $200K. This is coming up shortly . Very interested as I am starting a similar buildhttps://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-269781/1964-dodge-330-lightweight-hemi-honker/ Edited January 14, 2017 by Jon Haigwood
ChrisBcritter Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Barrett-Jackson is coming up too - I went through the automobilia listings, apparently written by the same dingaling as always. I think he uses a dartboard to pick the adjectives. ("NOSY" is a new one this year - does it mean NOS-ey, like almost NOS? ) No vintage promos this time, unless you count the orange WenMac/AMF '65 Mustang. Worth maybe $150 on a good day - let's see what it does. I notice among the real cars, they're flogging the maybe-it-was-maybe-it-wasn't-JFK's ambulance again, and a customized '56 Chevy that they say has some kind of tenuous Barris connection, although the H.A.M.B. thread on it doesn't seem to bear that out.
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I was just looking at the website and the Don Fezell collection of cars were from 20 miles where I live I always heard he had a huge collection of old drag cars and I heard this is only a part of them that he took to Florida man he has some beautiful cars. I wished I could have seen them in person sometimes I'll se one of the drag cars going through town headed for the drag strip.vince
