Hawk5.0 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Working on this Honda Civic Si kit from Revell. I am going to be adding a carbon fiber hood and a few other details. Let me know what you guys think. Edited February 6, 2017 by Hawk5.0 different picture
Hawk5.0 Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 Some more pictures further along with the body mocked up.
Draggon Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Love that color, looks like it laid down very smooth.
Hawk5.0 Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 Love that color, looks like it laid down very smooth. Yes the paint laid down nice. I'm letting it sit a while longer before the sand and polish.

Hawk5.0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Wow that red is killer. What paint is it ? Thanks. It is Tamiya "Bright Red"
Custom Mike Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Nice start Chris, and a great color combo. Having built this one (And re-built it to correct this mistake!), I can offer one big piece of advice. Cut the side windows loose from the front and rear windows, then trim them up to fit flush in their openings. If you don't cut them loose, you'll end up with problems getting the chassis and body together properly, my rear bumper wouldn't go on right until I did this. Everything else on the kit is awesome, fix that one problem and you'll have no other issues! Edited February 7, 2017 by Custom Mike Spelling

I was debating cutting them but now I definitely will. Thanks again!!
GlueTube Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Great start! We need more"tuner" cars around here. RegardsBrian Kroon
Hawk5.0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 Thanks. I used some clear Tamiya orange and a little blue to make it look heat soaked.
Casey Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 coilover springs.... Ground Control coil overs? Looks nice so far Chris, especially the body/paintwork.
Hawk5.0 Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Ground Control coil overs? Looks nice so far Chris, especially the body/paintwork. They do look like Ground Control. I actually copied the color scheme of Skunk2 coil overs. I liked the gold accent on the strut.
Hawk5.0 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Images would not load. Here we go. What do you guys think. My first time using this. It took a couple tries but I think it came out pretty good.
Intmd8r Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Looks very good - did you use kit stock decal for the CF, or is it aftermarket?

Intmd8r Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 It is the scale motorsport carbon fiber. I am going to put on a coat of clear once done in the dehydrator. Thought so - excellent stuff to work with.Keep up the good work. This build makes me miss my red '99 Si. Wasn't a race car by any means, but it was just plain fun to rip through the gears on the back roads.
brodie_83 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I have a Revell Civic kit as well (I think it's the earlier Civic to be honest) and have been contemplating what I want to do with it...Yours looks fantastic so far! Keep it up!
