KWT Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) Like most of us here, I have several build in various stages... some just started and a few that are almost done. I had decided to just post as I finished... But I find myself wanting to post atleast one wip this year... I'm building my first 69 Nova... for this build, I decided on the COPO kit. It'll be basically box stock.. may wire it, but I really don't know yet. Not a lot to post as of yet. I smoothed out some mold lines and a couple rough spots. Primed it with Testors/Model Master White Primer and sprayed it with Testors/Model Master Citrus Yellow and the ultra gloss clear. Here's where she's at thus far... More to come... as always, thanks for looking! Edited May 20, 2017 by KWT
mustang1989 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Nice color Jeremy. I'll have to keep that one in mind. Just keep forgetting the name of the color. (note to self .............Citrus Yellow!!!)
KWT Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Thanks Joe... It's an interesting color to say the least.
Badluck 13 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Perfect color for a Nova,my sister purchased a new '71 Nova in a color verrrrrrrrrrrry close to Citrus Yellow.
espo Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 You paint job looks great. The Citrus Yellow name that turns out Green is always confusing. This is a great kit and you well enjoy it. Bought a '72 Nova SS new, 4-speed in Fire Orange with black buckets. Had it for 5 years and sold it for what I paid for it. Still wish I had that car.
KWT Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Thanks everyone... I'm really pleased with how the paint job turned out. I do hope the rest goes as smooth.
KWT Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 (edited) I've got the other pieces painted, over the last couple evenings. Trying to decide on details.. considering a no frills/plain jane type build. Painted the interior basic flat black. Think I'm going to use the bench front seat on this one. Started assembling the engine this morning. ( Hugger Orange, aluminum and steel) Still haven't decided on if I'm gonna wire it up or not... Decisions, decisions... More to come... KWT Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) Been a busy weekend... LOTS of yard work and hanging out with the family. My son wanted to drive around yesterday... he's still got a permit... so we loaded into his soon to be 97 Lumina, affectionately named "Spot". Spot's missing quite a bit of paint... hit the backroads, and him and myself cruised around for about 3 hours... good times... Right before bed last night, I decided to go a head and wire up the engine.. just my second wiring job, ever. I'm not gonna worry about plumbing this one. Since I've never done it, I'm gonna practice that on a rebuild of an old kit from the junk box... As always, thanks for looking... Edited April 16, 2017 by KWT
KWT Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 I was actually off work this weekend… the combination of this, and the fact that it’s been raining since Thursday, I actually got some bench time in over the last couple days… WOOT WOOT… Not really anything to spectacular to add to this, but I have got the chassis and interior put together. Considering how little I’ve done to it in the last week, I’m pretty tickled. As always, thanks for looking...
mustang1989 Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Keep the progress coming bud. Lookin' swell so far.
KWT Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Keep the progress coming bud. Lookin' swell so far. Thanks for the vote of confidence there bro.. I don't know. I was excited about it when I got started... the way it sits now, I'm just not feeling it.
mustang1989 Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Thanks for the vote of confidence there bro.. I don't know. I was excited about it when I got started... the way it sits now, I'm just not feeling it.Been there lots of times. Go slow and the right "feel" will come to you. Sometimes I'll stall out in a build because I don't feel right about it. Doesn't mean I quit or nuthin, I just go into a lot of thought about it and out of the blue it'll hit me like a sack of potatoes and then I'm off in a good direction and with renewed interest again. What you've got looks good so far though.
mod3l Lover Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) Nice color Jeremy. I'll have to keep that one in mind. Just keep forgetting the name of the color. (note to self .............Citrus Yellow!!!) I love that color, and used it for a build. But I think it was discontinued by Testors recently!! David S. KWT Posted April 28, 2017 Author Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) Man I hope not... I dig all the automotive paints of theirs I have used. Those colors are great. Id hate to have to come up with something else. Edited April 28, 2017 by KWT
KWT Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Today is my first day off since the last update of this build... so as you can imagine, there's not a lot that has been done. Only a couple small details here and there, before bed, a couple time in the last 2 weeks. This morning, I decided to do a quick mock up to see if everything is still lining up right... and to get the blood pumping for the finished product... Yeah, pretty sure that's what I needed... I'm kinda diggin how this is starting to come together now. Time to get back to work, and get this bad boy knocked out. As always, thanks for looking...
KWT Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Had a couple spare minutes to work on the Nova tonight. Have a few final details to add before I can call this one done... mirror, handles, couple decals here and there... Went to cut the drivers side door hande off, when.... $@%&#... It goes flying across the room... or possibly into the next town, seeing that didn't hear it hit anything anywhere... So, I had to improvise. I cut the shifter knob off a spare from the box and glued it to a piece of chrome sprue. It's not pretty, but it'll have to do. Oh well... wouldn't be one of mine, if something wasn't quite the way I wanted it. Anyway.. as always, thanks for looking!
mustang1989 Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Man that big block sure does look at home in there Jeremy. Good progress so far.
KWT Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Thanks, Joe... I appreciate it. I've had a change of heart after stepping away from it for a few days. Back to my old self again.
mrmike Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Looking good Jeremy! I like the little touches that you are putting on this to make it your own! I built this kit several years ago in Tamiya Metallic Green.
