So our  monthly club meeting concluded with picking next months challenge which is Hot wheels builds or hot wheels inspired. My idea is to build the Hot wheels that Mattel hasn't made but should make. Drum roll please... the Disco nova. It blows my mind to think that there isn't a Hot wheels of the 4th gen nova. Of the thousands of styles out there this one is sadly overlooked by toy and model makers. Anyway I plan on a build that will have key Hot wheels signatures and how it would look if Mattel would've made it. I'll have pics soon. Thanks for looking and stay tuned.

Here is a peek of what I've got in mind. Flames and high metallic vibrant color combos soon to come!

Thanks, I'm struggling with loading photos I was about to give up. For whatever reason I can't load pics from my camera roll. I never had that problem before but I haven't posted any pics here for awhile now. I went in and edited this pic to get it to load finally.

I hope to get some color on soon. I'm thinking tinted glass and  chrome interior also.

Here are some more progress pics...   I tinted the glass yellow because Hot wheels does this alot. So I thought it would suit the build. Also I sprayed the interior with plate metlizer and I'm buffing it to simulate chrome, like how Hot wheels sometimes have chrome interiors.  Anyhow I'm getting underway with it now and I'll have some progress pics soon. Fun stuff...  more later...

OK,no one has asked and I don't know, what is that sticking out of the engine compartment?

It's supposed to be a Blower, valve covers, and fire coming up from the headers. I plan on painting the fire orange and red for a better understanding of how it will look. The scoop is missing off the top. I think I'm using velocity stacks hopefully it will come together soon so you can see my vision.

Excite toys F150 with sounds One of my son's old toys that I robbed the engine from... l figured it would look right with the Hot wheels theme. It will sit down further into the car once it is screwed to the chassis.

I was wondering the same thing. And it looks more Zinger than Hot Wheels to me, but what do I know?

I'm kinda diggin this... maybe cuz I was a big time hotwheels kid... maybe because I had a nova in that body style... maybe cuz it's a lil weird. I like weird.

Thanks guys... I never thought about the Zinger angle but it does. Maybe because the engine is a bit oversized. I was thinking of how all the engines out the hoods of my Hot wheels seemed out of puportion. Now that I Google some cars I see that they do seem kinda accurate. A kid's perspective..I guess lol! I'm thinking of that Corvair Zinger out now.

This is so Hot Wheels !!!!!! love the glass idea, how did you tint the glass?

Tamiya clear orange... you can get red and blue too. If you mix the colors you can have purple and green as well.

Thanks for the tip on the tint, never even thought about the Tamiya clear colors to tint glass even though I have all the colors and use them for lenses etc. ...big duh on my part lol.....

As far as the engine over size I too remember some of the Hot Wheels having "Monster Cubic Inches"  like this lil' one.

I remember that one! Got some color on I decided  to go with Flaming Orange. It's kinda burnt orange and that will go with the mid 70's . Remember when those colors were popular in kitchens? And guys wore orange polyester suits? Ahhhhh! The good old days.. where was I? Any way decals and clear then on to sanding and polishing.

The burnt orange color looks great just as it would in my kitchen but I have the Sunrise Yellow in mine and what?!?!?!?!? when men wore polyester suits?!?!?!?! what do you mean when? I never got the memo that they went out of style......dangggggg next your gonna tell me my kitchen is outdated ......Seriously I am loving this creation every step of the way and it to me is capturing the Hot Wheels theme/look all the way.....

LMAO! I still drive a 76 and I wear plad too! I wanted green appliances when we remodeled our kitchen but the wife wouldn't let me. Had to go with black.

Well I'm back from the monthly club meet....we seem to be losing our members slowly, not a real big turn out... but I did manage to get the car done in time for the challenge reveil. "The Night Fever Disco Nova"... I added some signature tacky graphics and poked the oversized engine out the hood. Lastly l enlarged the package card for display.
