Whose version do you consider the REAL one?

I'm still going with Steve Miller's version. At your urging (because some of the best music in the world is stuff out of the mainstream that your friends point you to), I did find the El Rayo X version, and it's good. I just still prefer Steve Miller's.

A former co-worker brought me in some CD's he burned of some obscure Rockabilly/Psychobilly music. There's some great car songs there, but he didn't label the discs with the artists, and he no longer is a co-worker. So, I have some great car songs that I don't know the artist, and have only educated guesses as to the song titles.

Thats right Harry - and a great vid

I also forgot Sugar Magnolia -

Shes got everything delightful, shes got everything I need,

Takes the wheel when Im seeing double, pays my ticket when I speed

Well, she can dance a cajun rhythm, jump like a Willys in four wheel drive.

Shes a summer love for spring, fall and winter. she can make happy any man alive.

Most of the I was going to list have been listed but there are a few I didn't see

Cars - Gary Newman

Down Payment Blues - AC/DC

Roll me away - Bob Segar

Fire lake - Bob Segar

Heard it on the X - ZZ Top (ok so its a song about radio but cars and radio just go together in my mind)

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide - ZZ Top

Trashed - Black Sabbath

Jerry was a racecar driver - Primus

Bucket T - The Who

And if you can find some of those cool SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY clips they would be neat to slip in here and there between the music, I've looked all over the internet and can't find any. :P

I kind of figured the Who version was a cover, how many British kids are going to find a Model T in Tennessee?

Funny how many of the classic British bands did covers from other bands in the beginning before the labels would let them cover their own material.

Remebered another one

Blue Chevrolet - The Beat Farmers

Hey, just curious to see what car songs you guys like, plus it'll help me out since I'm in charge of the music for a car show in my town next month. :(

"Beep Beep" by Playmates "Hot Rod Lincoln" by Commander Cody.

There are so many Bruce Springsteen songs that mention cars, or or automotive-themed, that they could almost take up an entire thread by themselves!

Here's a few that haven't been mentioned yet ...

I love all of those..to the Boss list I'll add 'The Promise'....a Challenger is mentioned in the storyline...love the song...off of the 18 Tracks CD.
