Hi everyone thought I'd post a photo of my converted bookshelf.

Now that I've finished uni I didn't need so much space for my notes. The nice thing about this set up is that the perspex (3 separate pieces) is cut flush with the edges so no dust manages to get in.

Next step will be perspex shelves in between the existing ones and then perhaps LED strips. Advantage is also needing a screwdriver/drill to "open it" so its childproof (except fingerprints)

Very nice Michael! I've got a white one but it's more narrow and doesn't have the glass like yours, which I do like a lot. Thanks for sharing.

You can see in your photo that you don't need that distance between shelves for model cars.  I have a similar situation and am adding a glass shelf in between each existing one.   That would give you six shelves in the same space!

Great looking shelving unit. Some ideas to consider to help show your models. The lighting idea is good, but also consider painting the inside face of the cabinet a light color. This will make your models more visible. A light off white color in a semi gloss or even the color of your walls in the room. This will make the cabinet seem smaller. The glass covering is also a good idea to protect your models from young admirers.

I use magnetic cupboard door latches to hold the perspex in place on mine.  The magnets are more than strong enough to support the weight.

Great idea. Wish I had thought of that lol.
