I have this kit and an original MPC builtup, and the taillights look a bit odd to me also. Could be the angle in the shot, but the one I have, I'd like to take mine and turn it into a four door hardtop using the Monogram '64 GTO roof section as a base. It is funny how MPC got that two door hardtop roofline correct as Snake said, but AMT never could get it right no matter which division they modeled! :D

Very nice and clean builtup and one that's not often seen these days.

Since writing that, I've managed to acquire several original AMT '66 Impala annuals--both promos and kits--and they actually seemed to have gotten the roof right on that one, or darn close to it. It actually looks better than the roof on the Revell '65-'66 Impalas. It's WAY better than the roofs on the AMT '65 Impala and Bonneville.
