StevenGuthmiller Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Hi,This fix is great for being able to look at older posts.I research many posts here and get very dismayed at broken images.Don't get too used to it.Guaranteed that PB will put the brakes on it very soon. This "fix" will be useful for something like retrieving Harry's pics if done quickly, but you know as well as I that it will not last. Steve

I mean information is valuable, extremely valuable. There are howto posts world wide that greatly help ppl and this PB change to me, is criminal.I didn't realize it at first until digging up my old bookmarks I use for reference for a vast array of things. They should have implemented a grandfather clause of some sort. With our dependence on information via technology, I would say that this denial implemented by PB is really no different than denying some one of basic health and human services which is criminal. Some may laugh at this statement but if you take a moment and see just how pervasive info tech has become and how we use it and it's impact, well then you may change your tune.
Draggon Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Nothing works for chrome. I get "could not move directory extension into profile". Maybe because I have Windows 10?

Roadrunner Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I'm certainly glad I checked this area first, as I was getting ready to post this same news, but in the off-topic section, where I had assumed it belonged.
M1ks Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Something to bear in mind for people talking about 'retrieving images' or 'getting images back'This Third Party Hosting thing does not lose said images, it simply prevents them being automatically shown on a third party website, such as this or other forums. All the images that were there, (unless removed by the uploader/account holder), are still there and can be viewed by anyone including the user on PB's own website. It's like showing your neighbour holiday photos through your window while they stand in your garden then suddenly saying, sorry, you can't view them unless you come in here or give me a cake and i'll hold them up to the window again. The only long term proper fix as said is either pay PB's (ludicrous) charges or use another provider.

I have access to most of Harry's model photos and because I was not the account holder, I could not see the photos. I only saw the "Upgrade" image and this was directly on Photobucket. Now that there is a fix, I have been transferring photos since Sunday morning.

Then surely that's due to the account holder not making that portion of their photobucket album open for anyone to view without the direct URL.It's a photohosting site like any other and you have an option to set who can view the images, that's not PB's doing with this TP restriction, I'm not defending anyone, simply stating the obvious. I stopped using PB a few years ago because their pop up ads became so annoying I simply found the site unusable, (i'm sure this was where they lost many users to the competition hence the obscene demands for TP hosting) and certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Ridge Rider Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I spent the weekend and got about half of his model photos downloaded directly from Photobucket. I will work on getting the rest this week. That is awesome, thanks for your effort and dedication. I personally appreciate it.
