RancheroSteve Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I visited the "Gurney's Eagles" show at the Petersen Museum a few days ago. Ten cars, a motorcycle and some cool ephemera from Gurney's career as a constructor. Full album here (60 photos), which also includes a couple of Eagles that were in the lobby when I visited a few months back: Gurney's Eagles
Bernard Kron Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Thanks for the great look-see at what has to be one of racings most brilliant careers - as driver, constructor, promoter, mechanic, engineer, Dan Gurney may be the sports greatest renaissance man. Along with Harry Miller, Carroll Shelby, Jim Hall and Mickey Thompson, he also ranks at the very pinnacle of American motor sports in terms of influence.
Misha Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Fabulous shots Steve! Perfect detail references for future builds, with the various shades of aluminium, metal and paint.Overall a great tribute to the skill and passion of Dan Gurney! Thanks for the photos, Cheers Misha
waynehulsey Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Looks like some of the cars that were in the Riverside Raceway Museum before it closed. On some wasn't sure which belonged to the museum or were still Gurney's and he was displaying them. Maybe I should post the set even if some of the photos aren't the best. Between them and yours would be some really good references.
waynehulsey Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Do you know how long the show is going to be there?
High octane Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Wow great photos and I wish that I could get down there and see that display. I've only been to the Petersen Museum once. Back in the late summer or early fall of '67 I had the opportunity to talk to Dan Gurney and also watch him race at the Grand Prix of the United States in Watkins Glen, New York. It was an awesome time.
RancheroSteve Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 Do you know how long the show is going to be there?According to their website, until January 10, 2018.
waynehulsey Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Thanks, guess I could have checked myself. Problem I have with going there is easy 6 hours from Phoenix to a hotel in Orange County. Then another 3 hours getting from there to the museum and finding a parking spot.
RancheroSteve Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Yeah, I guess I'm lucky - just a bike ride away for me.https://www.relive.cc/view/1150575143
