Bucket T Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Not a bad kit overall. Don't usually build showroom stock. First time BMFing the scripts and emblems, painting, then scraping. Probably the last time. The only real prob I had was the chassis was warped. Had to cut off the front and rear valences and mount separately. First time using the chrome pen too. The chrome decided to come out of the side more than the tip. At first, I used tape as a mask, but used brushing mask for the windshield. When I took off the masking with a qtip, it dulled the chrome a bit. Tried to paint the whitewalls but they weren't molded very well, so I went with blackwalls.
bbowser Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Nice! I've rarely seen this kit built, looks good.
THarrison351 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Looks great. I Like the custom front end. I never could understand why AMT didn't include the lower valence on the chrome tree. I have a couple of these kits and I'm still not sure how I'm going to achieve a happy chrome. I'm never impressed with the Alclad look. It always looks like black chrome to me. I might try my wide Molotow pin and see how that works out.
Classicgas Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Nice Tbird. Got this kit in the works myself.
disabled modeler Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Nice....I love the 60s to mid 70s cars the most.
El Caballo Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Kinda like these Birds myself. Nice job! donb, what did you do to fill in the corner lights? Was it Bondo glazing putty?
