I've pushed everything else aside for my latest obsession, building this unique 1966 Fairlane AWB. It will be loosely based on the rather obscure Prestone Silencer car.  A Hilborn injected Cammer will provide the power. An AMT Fairlane GT and a Kings Comet will donate to the cause. :D

Well I wish I could take credit for the wheel openings, but this is a resin. :D

This kit donated it's interior, chassis and a few odd n ends.

Other than being too short in the front, the Comet chassis fit perfectly. I decided to cobble up a square chassis to replace the incorrect round tube one.

Hi Ron, I used to like those cars back in the day.  Dyno Don and others.

Good luck with your project.

Thx Michael! The brief AWB era produced some wild cars. :D

The rear frame rails were also tubular, and these were molded into the floor plan. So I ground then out and went about making a square tube rear frame to match the rest. I also lengthened the rear floor pan. The rear rails were a bit of a challenge!

Since this is not a "gasser" that's all jacked up, the ride height will have to be adjusted. The Comet rear axle and springs had way too much arch, and the axle housing didn't really look like a 9-inch. So, I used the axle and springs from the doner Fairlane kit.

Coming along nicely Ron.  You probably already know this ( I see you are planning on installing  a C-6) but I asked about the correlation with tall injectors and auto trans and here are the responses I received.
