Marc Weller
Putting the finishing touches on this one. GMC block from the AMT '50 Chevy pickup with Fisher head from the AMT '51 Chevy Hardtop. Slingster , or as I like to call Little Sizzler, frame, body, wheels. I used the blower from the Slingster and scratch built the intake from an image I found online. Machined the pulleys and magneto. I used the Slingster header tubes in combination with the the flange from the '51 Chevy kit. Alcad sure does a killer job !!! This one will be under glass in a week or so. #1 model citizen
This is a good looking & very interesting build. I don't think I've ever seen a "sling shot" powered by a 6, but then when I was a kid I thought that if it wasn't a V8 it was junk & just blew them off. That is until I got a hold of a few slant 6 MoPars as well as reading about early salt flat racers. Just out of curiosity, was this a common occurrence in drag racing? Marc Weller
Kay Sissell had a slingshot with a pair of 6's !!!! No blowers though. Blown inliners are common at Bonneville, less so at the drags although I can recall seeing a blown Supra motored RED running comp eliminator in recent years. DustyMojave
I recall seeing a Chevy/GMC 6 in a row with a blower back when, maybe early 60s. It was a round bottom blower housing, sitting on its side, with a manifold extending about 8" out from the side of the head (very probably a Wayne head). I remember Kay SIssel's altereds with 6es too.
