Hi all, I finished another build that was on the bench fora long time! A 1948 Chevy coupe that is a replica-ish car that my dad had when he and my mom first got married in 1952!

The Galaxy limited kit is really nice and went together well, had do some tweaking here and there but overall a great kit! My dads car had red skirts on it, I have them painted and ready to go on but I was trying to figure out a way to make them removable without ruining the paint. Any ideas would be a great help! Comments always welcome!

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful looking Chevy. Great paint job and I also like the modified engine. My father had a '41 coupe before he was drafted. He got a '46 or '47 after the War and sold it to get a new '49 Ford. I have a suggestion on your skirt mounting problem. I have seen were other builders have used magnets to hold a door shut. I think if you were to glue a magnet inside the body and a couple of very small magnets on the back side of the skirts that could work.

Now that's nice!!! Love the color, my favorite, for sure.

I second the magnet tip for the skirts. I saw it done before for the same purpose. In the case I saw, there was a magnet glued to the inside of the rear hubcap, and another glued to the inside of the skirt.

That turned out nicely! Did you notice that the exhaust manifold had the firing order in raised numbers? Now that is great attention to detail on Galaxy's part!

If you're going to use the magnet approach for the skirts, use the magnets on the body or the skirts, but not both; use a small piece of metal (iron) on the mating surface.

Otherwise, you might run into the "Opposites attract, etc." situation, find the two magnets are not polarized properly, and the skirts cannot be attached.

No, I'm not gonna recommend Velcro!

Thanks for the comments! The magnet idea is great! I was going to try and make a "clip" of some sort to hols onto the fender but I like the magnet idea way better!!! Thanks!
