Ok, since I can't seem to get any painting done I've started another project. I'm scratch building a camper for the 59 El Camino. I used the camper from the 65 El Camino for reference. The one for the 59 is a tad bigger than the one for the 65. I started on this last night and this is where it's at at the moment.  Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

Cool project and nice start.  Don't forget the load levelers or the high jackers!????????

Great looking fabrication work on the Camper. As others have mentioned, I'm sure you have something special in mind for the suspension. Is the Camper going to be detailed inside or just viewed thru the windows ?

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.  I'm not going to do any interior detailing for this one.  This is my first try at doing this kind of build.  I have found a small air conditioner unit from a truck kit that will set on top of the camper and also resized a bed from the parts box.  I'll post pics from last nights work when I get them loaded to the computer.  Dan

I only have one picture from last night.  You can see the bed and the air conditioner in this pic.  Lots more work to do.  Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

I like it also. I have to ask. Where are you finding the plastic for this? I have never seen the textured type of raw plastic before. Evergreen? In some ways the rear suspension would look interesting as a tail dragger. I too will be watching your progress.

I'm in the same boat. Freezing temps means no spraying in the unheated garage. So it's time to start more kits.I like the scratch canopy, need to try one of those for myself.

Thanks guys.  Eric, I do use Evergreen Plastic that I get at the hobby store.  They have all kinda of different plastic to do scratch building with.

Dan, it's not the weather that I'm worried about here in my basement (LOL).  I just haven't been in the painting mood I guess.  Sorry 'bout the unheated garage, I have one of those myself and it would really be bad to have to wait for better weather fer sure.  Dan

I've been doing some work on the 59 El Camino. At first I was just going to build the camper shell, but now I've gone and started to build the whole slide-in camper with a twist. I'm installing a smoked bubble top so ya can see the stars at night when ya go to bed. I used Tamiya's smoke for the tint and it doesn't look very good For some reason there's tiny pin holes in the paint. I've cleaned it three times and still get the same result. I even cleaned it with Tamiya's thinner and had the same result. It just might stay this way looks like.  Thanks fer lookin.  Dan

Thanks Glen.  Its gonna be stock height with Gabriel Hijackers under it.  I'm old school when it comes to this type of build.  (Except for the bubble top)
