mhadman Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Brian Fowler...Body man...(unfortunately,he was struck down by gremlins on this build, and only finished the prep work...After sending the unfinished body onto the next person,he went on to paint a flawless Ferrari....) Randall Cooper..Final body paint and interior paint and assembly. Andy Wyatt...Engine detail and assembly.. Ricky Moore,Chassis work, ride height, and making those wide wheels fit.. Gary Lyles...Donated the wheels and tires, and was parts custodian for a year...He had more to do,but circumstances got in the way.We all just blamed Brian..lol And finally me,who did final assembly...all the little chome bits...enjoy!
george 53 Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Really not a bad job for a car built by a "comitee"! If G.M. did half as good a job they might not be in the hole they are now!Yours came out real nice. How many miles are under the wheels?Do like the color, and I'll give it a 2 thumbs up ana SNAP!
ajulia Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) Hello there friends! Just stoppin by to say you guys did quite a number on this one. evilone Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 looksweet bros the fact that everything is clean except the carb is cool why is the carb the only thing that is aged
MonoPed Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 It's finally done!! WOOHOO!!! The paint gremlins just kept killing me on this one, and being is a slump didn't help. I sent a mostly painted body to Randall, and he saved my butt on this one. I'm not sure how much of my paint work is still on the car. I also rebuilt the front spindles and set the track width front and rear. The rest of the guy's did really nice work on it, and it looks great - way to go guys!!
MrObsessive Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Wow! For a group build that came out fantastic! George I totally agree! GM needs a clean styling direction and refresh of most of their models..............Think 1961 versus '60, or 1965 versus '64. That '61 BTW shows how innovative and clever GM was with their styling------all 1959 thru '64 full size GM's are basically the same car, just different sheetmetal changed from year to year. Underneath and inter structurally they are the same cars. Instead of hanging on to the same 'ol ugly car for six or seven years, they should be updating at least every four years like the Japanese and now Koreans.
sdrodder Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 wow. Thats cool that a comitte actualy built it. nice idea.
mhadman Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 The best part about this build is my getting to keep it...I actually learned a lot just by studying it to see how these guys do certain things. I have been in weekly chats with these guys, discussing everything under the sun.for over 10 years now,and it is really gratifying to have their work in my collection. The pictures I took are not the best, and even though there are some warts,as Randall calls them,It is my favorite car in my collection. I would love to do it again some time, maybe for someone else.... I would also like to see other groups of people on here do the same...
Dr. Cranky Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Great project, and I'm delighted to see it turned out so well. Congrats to all the builders!
Andy Wyatt Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I've waited so long to see this one finished and he posts pics the week I'm away on vacation! That turned out pretty decent...makes me want to dig one out of the stash and build it. Guess there's a certain Chevy truck and a Mustang to finish first...
