unclescott58 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I don't know if I've posted this model in the past or nor. But, Dan Clark's dad's build inspired me to want to show you my Matador.
AC Norton Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 ......Nice clean build....color with the stock striping makes it very much like the car's we would see on the street day to day, all those years ago......the Ace..
iamsuperdan Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 THe red totally works. I simply MUST find one of these kits.
gbt216 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 "What's a Matador?........oh, so THAT'S a Matador!" That 1974 TV commercial used to crack me up. Funny, though, the Matador had been around since 1971, but in an Ambassador-derived styling through '73. I have this '75 kit, too (acquired at K-Mart for $0.96 back in the day...one day I'd like to re-build it), but I always wished they'd had a kit of the '71 so I could replicate my grandfather's car. The closest thing out there was the Johan '70 Rebel, and even that, I think, was only offered as a stock car (I think MCW offers a re-pop of that kit). Even so, a '70 Rebel would be an immense project to convert to a '71 Matador - especially the front fascia. The only similarity is the basic body.
Jim N Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Looks great Scott. That was my first car. Couldn't wait to get rid of it when we traded for a new car in 1986, but now I kind of wish I still had the Matador.
bbowser Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Very nice. A little foil would really set it off.
