"Leaving the slump". Mine's Evo.

Hi everyone!

So, I've been very out of the loop in the modelling world. But now that I finally have a dedicated model desk again, which is quite an upgrade from any of my prior desks...

It's time to get back at it. So, my first car (my real one) was sadly sent to the graveyard in the sky. In scrap I was given £22 - just enough for a model kit. I wanted something that I could have forever in memory of it. So, I went to the LHS and picked up Tamiya's Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI kit. Now, I'm no stranger to this kit as some who remember me may know...

But I've decided this time to do a different build on it. I'm going to replicate the Mine's Evo, which some of you may know from Gran Turismo.

So, the start. I want the car to be lowered. I've cut the springs at the top, and then heated some sprue (my styrene tubing is still in Uni... Next week I'll get it back!) to connect them to the wishbones. After they had set, I cut off the excess.

After that was done, I assembled the rest, and got it into a rolling chassis. Brakes were stolen from the parts box.

Resin speedline wheels were bought. I've never ever dealt with resin before, so I'll be getting them tidied up before they're painted white.

But for now, she's rolling, and I'm happy with the stance. I'll be sorting out an airbrush setup soon before I start on the body. Interior will be relatively stripped. Bucket seat sourced from an old Tamiya Impreza kit - not the one you see on the bench though, it's another build in progress. Mine's decals have been sourced and ordered.

Progress will be slow, I only have at most two days a week to build if the mood takes me - but god am I happy to be back at it.
