plastic trucker
Is that what they are calling the blue moon?

No. A "blue moon" is simply the second of when there's 2 full moons in one month. This month there was a full moon on the 2nd and there will be another on the 31st. The one on the 31st will be the "blue moon".

Ace-Garageguy
Here's a map of what you'll be able to see depending on where you are, assuming clear skies... https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/map/2018-january-31 Edited January 29, 2018 by Ace-Garageguy
SfanGoch
I'm SOL. Being completely surrounded by high-rises can do that.
Deano
As usual, it was overcast here. Always seems to be when there's an astronomical event to be seen.

espo
My wife and I were looking at it thru our bathroom window this morning. The timing was such that as we took turns in the shower we could look out and see it starting. As it progressed we were looking at it as we were getting dressed and I got to have my first cup of coffee on the back deck as it went almost totally dark. Not into this sort of thing normally but when you just look out the window and there it is it can be fascinating to watch.
