unclescott58 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) This was a fun build. The Saint Paul police or the Minnesota State Patrol need something like this for cruising at Back to the 50's, or other local events. This is the old MPC snap kit. Built straight out of the box. No paint (other than the taillights and front parking lights). Just a little Future to give it a better shine. I really like the way it turned out. Edited February 3, 2018 by unclescott58
Dave Darby Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Very nice build of a pretty cool kit. You may have noticed (If you look closely at the chassis that MPC tooled this directly off of a built AMT 49 Merc kit. You can see the seams on the oil pan, and on the top of the chassis you see the trunk liner pattern. MPC took a similar route with the 53 Flip Nose pickup body. If you have one of the MPC 64-67 Corvettes you will see the engine has a very close resemblance to the Revell 55-57 Chevy engine (at least the long block).
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I loved it!! It looks very nice shape wise, and proves that with a little care, those snappers can build ito cool model cars. I agree with Cave on the kit's heritage.
DumpyDan Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Nice work, I remember that kit looking real cool
Harpo Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Good looking build! Reminded me of an old TV show: "Car 54 Where Are You?" But they drove a Plymouth Savoy:
Vietnam Vet67 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 At last years airshow at Selfridge ANG base the Michigan State Police had a large display with this car on display.

Not sure this is the correct color if this to represent a new car. From what I have found 58 is the first year for the Blue cars. They were all Black with a gold strip before that.
1930fordpickup Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Sorry for the above post Scott. I like your Mercury, I have always wondered how that snapper looked built. Fine work.
stavanzer Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Man, I want one of those Plymouth Savoys. I'm sure the only resin kit of that body style came from the now defunct Modelhaus....... Maybe I'll see one at a swap meet someday.
David G. Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Nicely Done! I never would have guessed that it was a snap kit. David G,
Flatout Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Pretty Cool Cruiser Scott...nice job on the decals.
