oldcarfan Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Last weekend my wife wanted to go to Hobby Lobby for fabric. I checked out the clearance aisle and there was a Higgins 2mm India Ink pen on clearance for $2.75. I got it just because. Now I'm wondering if it might be good for panel lines and such. 2mm is pretty wide I know. Is India Ink a forgiving material? I have used fine tip Sharpies but if you slip, it is hard to clean up the mistake.
kitbash1 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Yes it would be. Although I use a # 0.10 and a #0.15 Technical Drafting Pen for my panel lines. This can be filled with India Ink as well.

Uh, skip the clearance aisle, and go to the artist's supply section: You can find all manner of permanent (India) ink drawing pens, with points down to at least .010-.015", and yes, those work very, very well (plus, they come in colors other than black. peteski Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 A good properly of India Ink is that when dry it is not affected by solvents in the paints we use for out model cars. Sharpie "black" and similar organic-solvent-based inks are often attacked by the solvents in hobby paints (when you clear-coat your model) and the ink can run, ruining your paint job.
Chariots of Fire Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 What Art and Peteski said. Agree wholeheartedly.
