StevenGuthmiller Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Does anybody have any experience with the Model Car World mid 50s Oldsmobile kits? I'm interested particularly in the '54, '55 & '56 hardtops, but I would really like to see them before I would take the leap, or at least get some testimonials from someone who has bought them. Steve
vairnut Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Very nice kits, good quality resin castings. The only issue at all is unplated parts. Some include engine and decals for scripts/emblems.
SfanGoch Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 '54 Super 88 HT '55 Super 88 HT '56 88 HT You can also see them, and the sedans, in the Gallery.
Snake45 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Just since we're talking MCW Olds, I'd like to hear about their '65 4-4-2, if anyone has bought or built one. Very tempting!
Ramfins59 Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I think I'll be ordering the '53 and '54 as soon as finances permit.
espo Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 This has me looking at several of their two door post Chevrolets and Pontiacs.
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 (edited) Thanks to all for this thread. I have a soft spot for Oldsmobiles. I've been stretching a 1/26 no-name Chinorama diecast into a decent 1/25 representation of a '55, but these look like a much better option...and won't take the rest of my life to finish. I have seen these photos in the MCW gallery, but I was hoping for more along the lines of photos of the raw parts. A lot can be done to massage a pretty horrible casting into a finished model. I really like to see the parts as they come so I know how much work is involved before I drop $60.00 on a kit. Steve
