cobraman Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Will EZ Off remove enamel paint from a resin body , is it safe on resin ?
StevenGuthmiller Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 Just did it with a resin '56 Caddy. But I used Super Clean. Of course t only had to soak for about a half hour to get off all of the enamel, so it really didn't have time to get damaged. I've used Super Clean before on resin without any problems & I don't think Easy Off would be any different, especially when removing something as easy as enamel. Steve
Snake45 Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 You don't need to leave Easy-Off on longer than 15-20 minutes. It'll do what it's gonna do in that time. Spray on, wait 15-20-30 minutes, attack it with a toothbrush under warm running water, repeat as necessary. Some enamel jobs can require 3-4-5-6 treatments to come all off. Others will come off with just one or two cycles.
cobraman Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 Thanks guys. I painted my 1/43 Alfa BAT car with enamel because the color was right but after 6 days it is still tacky. Never again. I did a Studebaker yellow a couple years ago and it took about three weeks to dry believe it or not.

They level better & will give you a pretty nice shine without a clear coat, but I used to paint my models & then put them away for a couple of months before resuming because the enamel takes forever to cure completely. Now I use pretty much nothing but lacquers. Steve
fiatboy Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 I use a food dehydrator, brand name:" NESCO American Harvest". This one has a therrmostat on it. I have run it at 100 degrees F. Of course, the shelving inside needs to be hollowed out, not difficult.
cobraman Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 Just wanted to say thanks to all that replied and say the Easy Off worked very well.
