Get a rowboat and with all this technology now lower a camera on a cable and see if you can find it. You'll be an internet celebrity for a couple hours. We're waiting to hear from you about it.:)

mike 51 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Careful...I got in"trouble" for posting comments like the above.
Xingu Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I know the thread goes off tangent (if you are not posting about the Piranha you are guilty as well), but there is no rule against it other that it is poor forum etiquette. However, there is a rule about abusive behavior and posts toward other members. If you guys don't like it, stop responding. Use the ignore member function if you want, that way you won't see any of the posts.
iBorg Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Mr. Speed used the Piranha chassis as well as AMT used it as a rear engined sand buggy. As for more than one Piranha funny car, see: https://www.nhra.com/news/2010/piranha As far as a second Piranha being at the bottom of a rock quarry, the literature I have from that time frame doesn't mention it. This car was sorta like Garlits' Dart, more a dragster in disguise than a stock based funny car. Of course two years later its design was not uncommon.
nitro norman Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I'm not that crazy about the Piranha, but I liked when I was a kid and it would be nice to have one with the original box art. It is a great parts kit however. Chassis is great for rear engine funny cars , etc.. I'll never understand why the rerelease of a few years ago had the wrong front wheels and missing decals.
iBorg Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I think the fronts are right. As for the decals......that last reissue left a lot to be desired. Jesse's picture of the Sandbagger is not the Piranha but the AMT Garlits dragster-seriously! The attached image is the correct Piranha sand dragster
regular guy Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) ' opinions, questions, comments, and maybe a little bit of history thrown in. ' I'm throwing this in. Mid engine circle track cars worked great on Northern California tracks. In the 70's. Guys with old cars had them banned. Embarrassing that Californians would do that. Northern California is a little different. Mid engine got every body's attention after Indianapolis and Formula ones went that route. That's the WHY of mid engine cars.If it needed saying.
