Ben269 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Has anyone built a good looking one of these? I love this car, and the kit doesn't do it justice.
vamach1 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 No surprise I'm guessing they used the Pace car body and added the hood and ground effects. Painting it closer to the original color might add to the realism.
vettecote Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I have 2 of them, never opened them!.... have to pull them out!...Joe
935k3 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 This paint is the best representation of Mclaren Orange you can find in a spray can
Sledsel Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 They actually used the Capri body to simulate the flared fenders. Maybe a mash up with the Revell or AMT Fox body would work.
beeRS Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Wow Ben. That box art is a blast from the past for me. This was one of the very first model cars I ever built as a kid. I remember seeing the picture cars inside and thinking the kit arch extensions were too small. Love the 1:1 car, but as you say the kit does not do it justice. To answer your question - I did build one, but it was not good looking. I left the body 'plastic orange' as my painting skills were not great at the time. It knocked around on my shelf for many years, and now I can still find bits of it in my parts bin. One day, I'll find a good home for that Pinto engine.
Dann Tier Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I haven't seen any builds good enough to write home about, but yours will be!!
