Richard Bartrop Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 Shown with a Hudson, the previous model Cadillac, and what would be the 1948 Cadillac. The Interceptor was originally going to be the design for postwar Cadillacs until they decided to start over. I think they made the right choice.

The interceptor looks like the result of a night of passion between a Muntz Jet and the Cunningham Le Monstre.
Joe Handley Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Apparently they destroyed it by ramming it with a '57 to crash test those.
ChrisBcritter Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Ooh, that's a shame. Anyone else see a certain inspiration here?
Joe Handley Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I did Chris, windshield and A-pillars look an aweful lot like the '58 GM cars.
Richard Bartrop Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 You can definitely see things that ended up on future GM cars, and from the back, it even looks a little like a Jaguar Mk ! from behind, but put it all together, and it doesn't really work. It shows just how much designers struggled to figure out how to make an envelope body look good.
ChrisBcritter Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Another version, enlarged and enhanced: Note that at some point the Interceptor gained a one-piece windshield. Any guesses as to the three words on the front bulkhead? Looks like "----- to radiator"?
