Ace-Garageguy Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 (edited) Paul Allen, a co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers has died at 65 from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Besides all that, he was the major player behind the Stratolaunch aircraft (built by Scaled Composites, who is also building the vehicles for Virgin Galactic's private space ventures), and an avid warbird enthusiast. iamsuperdan Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 More importantly for me, he was a major music nerd! He spent something like $250 million of his own money to open the Experience Music Project in Seattle, which is a pretty amazing music museum. And he had a band. They weren't amazing, but they were solid.
NYLIBUD Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 It just goes to show ya,that you can have millions,or in this case, billions of dollars. But your health is the MOST important thing.....RIP

Rob Hall Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 He had a recurrence of the cancer he had in 2009. Same sort of cancer my Dad died from in 1999, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Nasty stuff. I've long been a fan of Allen, from the Microsoft days to his recent deep sea exploration projects that turned up some WW II ships incl. the USS Indianapolis.
Muncie Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Among other accomplishments, Paul Allen was also a model builder - mostly aircraft and/or military. RIP
