I really didn't put it up to be ridiculed. It would certainly be an interesting (and very challenging) alternative to "normal" build subjects, and you'd be certain nobody else on any show table would have another one. But while we're being fair, let's also be honest. "Safe" and "aesthetically pleasing" are not mutually exclusive, nor were they necessarily so at the time this beauty was built.
Richard Bartrop Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) Yes, it would be a interesting piece of history to model, and and history isn't always pretty. It is very true that there were some very attractive safety concepts. GM and Pininfarina spring to mind. It's also true that some of the most beautiful cars ever were race cars, yet there were a few that emphasized speed over looks. and few faulted their priorities. NYLIBUD Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Yea your right, any custom car is cool. Some are just weirder then others. But they are someone's dream I guess,so that's always cool. 6 hours ago, Oldcarfan27 said: Because this is America - and they can! We can build and drive any kind of car we want, even if it is ugly. At least these ones are still being used, not out rotting in some field, junkyard or farmers porch rusting away, waiting to be touched again. Now as for "artistic sense and good taste", that's not for everybody.
Motor City Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 This IS one of the best threads I've seen. I for one am tired of the same old new models (Revell and AMT versions of the same car, too-numerous-to-count Camaros, etc.). Some of the cars shown are quite creative, even though I wouldn't want to own any of them.
Spex84 Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I would much MUCH rather that the roads be filled with interesting (if ugly) creations. Accordingly, my next model car will be upholstered in squirrel hide
