philo426 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Received this completed hull and decided to finish it.Added the prop and rudder.
philo426 Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 Cut out a piece of sheet plastic to protect the deck from overspray.
philo426 Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 After the blue dries ,I will apply a 1/8"strip of masking tape to the hull followed by a few coats of orange.
Gramps46 Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 Please keep us posted on this build. I had an uncle who sailed on the Great Lakes and built really great ship models in the winter I am guessing from scratch. I sure hope his daughter kept them or put them in a sailing museum.
philo426 Posted October 25, 2018 Author Posted October 25, 2018 Will do!Wonder what happened to those ship models?

cobraman Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Looking good. Those kits can be a challenge. Built 4 wooden boats/ships and they were tough after doing plastic models for over 50 years. The old wooden submarine was the toughest model of any kind I ever built. Had doubts I would ever finish it. Keep it going.
philo426 Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Who made the sub kit and .can you post a pic of it?What was tough about it?The biggest issue I have is the instructions for the wooden ship kits.I wish they were as clear and sequential as plastic kits.
philo426 Posted November 8, 2018 Author Posted November 8, 2018 I cut a slot in a piece of plastic to act as an alignment tool while constructing the boat cradles.
