maxwell48098 Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Would have been nice to throw in the turbine engine in this one.

They're selling it separately, it's not in their financial interest to throw it in any of the Astros now as it would cannibalize the Parts Pack sales.
maxwell48098 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Just think how many more Astros that they would have sold just for the turbine engine. I bought several of the original T510 GMC Astro kits that included the turbine as an optional engine in the kit back in 1971, and still have one! I actually spoke with a Round2 rep at the Warren MI toy show several years back and showed him how the original turbine was on it's own sprues, so if they could find that tool, they could reissue the turbine either with the Astro or as a stand alone kit. At the time, the rep didn't know about the turbine engine option in the original Astro. Maybe it was still part of the original tool, but it had been blocked off so it never got reproduced until now. I might just build one as a stand alone engine for display.

I wonder how many people would buy ANOTHER one just to get the engine vs. people who can now just pick up the Parts Pack and put it into the kit they already have if they desire.
Tabbysdaddy Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Either way I would want two so I could build one with each engine.
Mr mopar Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Just wait Round2 will bring back the GMC Astro with the turbine engine after they make more money off the parts pack .

I wouldn't hold it against them if they did exactly that. Here's the reissued parts pack turbine engine: 2
GLMFAA1 Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Isn't interesting that this an 'Adult Collectable' as shown on the front. Well professor set the way back machine to the great state of Virginia that banned toys with cigarette or alcohol references in the 70's. All the Virginnie modelers had no NASCAR or AMT Beer truck kits. I guess the label makes it acceptable and ID's will be checked! greg
Danno Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Geeeeez! Now they have to include disclaimers that Custom Parts Pack contents may not drop right in to any old model. The "modeler" may have to modify, customize, use additional parts, or *gasp* even mighta could hafta fabricate parts!! What's this world coming to? 1

The world is coming to more people not having the slightest clue what this engine is for because they weren't building models when the kit was released with the Turbine engine in it, considering it was only released that way once. Heck we're probably in a world where 50% of modelers weren't even alive when the kit came out in 1971. I mean that IS 50 years ago now. 2
