yellowsportwagon
This car was the last nascar Grand National racecar to be made from a driven home from the dealer new. Built by Red and Bobby Allison in Hueytown Alabama. The kit is a Johan Torino. The rear suspension is scratchbuilt around an AMT 9” rearend. I worked off pictures I had found on line of the rear suspension. Its getting a 427 out of a Polar Lights Talladega. yellowsportwagon
This is how the rear was done on this car. Kinda odd. I like to add some character to the totally flat floor that comes with the kit too.
yellowsportwagon
The other thing unique to this car for this time period was the fact that it retained its factory seat and dash. I have to make a racing gauge cluster to fit the stock dash.

This paint job will test you patience for sure. I still have to sand and polish it a bit. Then dust black and white over it from about 2 feet away. All rattle cans. You just want the black and white to kind of fall on it.
yellowsportwagon
Chassis is in. Final assembly starts now. Added a steering gearbox to the chassis. Had to do some creative engineering to get the header in on that side. Need to redo the lower radiator hose. <profile removed>
This looks awesome. Love the old stock cars...when they really were stock. Quick question: is that the MPC hood?
