aurfalien Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm curious what you all use for rulers being straight and/or right angle? I'm assuming metal as well? And how do you all feel about the Fiskars Sure Cut; Edited December 1, 2018 by aurfalien
Dave Van Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I have three different cutters like the one in the picture. One is the same with a scriber type blade. This works well on plastic sheet up to .030. I also have a cutter with a wheel which is better on paper and thicker sheet stock. The only issue is the cutter can wander a little on the lighter weight models. I get a lot of use out of mine.
Mark Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I've got a couple each of the X-Acto right angles (the "L" shaped one, and the triangular one). I've also got several stainless steel rulers, one is thick and heavy so it stays where I put it. I thought I had one with cork on one side, but I was mistaken.
TarheelRick Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I also use one of the rotary paper cutters. Just bought two new blades for mine - one full cut and the other a scoring blade. I have a T-square, but do not use it very much, it is rather long and bulky.
Jack L Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 I use a 6" 12" 18" & 24" ruler and 2 1/2 inch and a 12 inch square all are starret brand . x machinist

I was thinking of getting this one being a 5" square for ~$18 shipped. The reviews on it seem very good. My problem has been slippage due to light weight and feel this would mitigate that. There is this one carried by Umm made from 2mm galvanized steel which I like; Edited December 2, 2018 by aurfalien

This Fiskar model seems to be well received. Edited December 2, 2018 by aurfalien

I have had it for seven or eight years, used it primarily for paper cutting early on, but have been using it on the model bench for the past two or three years.

Your rotary cutter gets very high marks on various reviews. it's considered a professional class paper cutter and a tad less in price then the above Fiskars rotary that I listed..
