Superbird McMonte Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) So after sleeping on last nights work, I took another look at the trim and saw some stuff I didn’t like. The points on the quarters looked too long. I changed the curvature next to the tulip panel and ended about 3/32 of an inch shorter. Not a huge amount but it looks better to me. The passenger side is corrected in the picture. Onward! Edited January 6, 2019 by Superbird McMonte

I knew from the moment you announced this project it was gonna be special... I bet you wish that vinyl top was molded on out of the box... It sure looks that way now... way easier to remove it than to add it on I'd bet. I think I'm gonna send you mine and let you handle that top for me ? lol....

disconovaman Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Lol! Rumors are flying that Revell may in fact do a Baldwin motion addition once the new wears off the "Stock" version... Meanwhile, I'm loving this build!
kelson Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Real nice work on the vinyl trim!,what size styrene did you use?.

Superbird McMonte Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Next up, the hood goes in for casting. That will be Wednesday night.
Superbird McMonte Posted January 11, 2019 Author Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) Well, I was unable to get to pouring silicone the last couple of nights. In the meantime, since I have three of the Chevelles so far, I figured I would master corrected bucket seats. They are not so much wrong as they are in two pieces with a difficult seam to fill. The top of the upper cushion rolls over the top of the plastic seat back. In my mind the separation between the front and back of the seats should have followed the plastic seat back all the way. Instead, the seam goes right over the top of the cushion. The pictures explain it well. The seat closest is the modified seat. You can see hear how the top of the cushion rolls over now. Here are the front and rear parts of the seat in modified form. I think I’m going to cast him as one unit. This is what the final casting should look like. Superbird McMonte Posted January 13, 2019 Author Posted January 13, 2019 The hood has been cast! I can get this bad boy rolling again!
Superbird McMonte Posted January 13, 2019 Author Posted January 13, 2019 I also finished and cast the seats.
dragmodels44 Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 That thing is killer. It’s inspired me to do one like yours, as I love the BM cars. I collected most of what I’ll need, and hopefully it’ll be a decent shelf model...I hope. Your’s will be a true replica. Can’t wait to see it finished!
Superbird McMonte Posted January 15, 2019 Author Posted January 15, 2019 Resin hood cleaning up and getting ready to prime!

Superbird McMonte Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Scratch built the hone overdrive tonight. Shortened the drive shaft too. That needs finishing but it’s 1:30am and I’m beat. I used Evergreen tubing for the largest diameter of the part. The rest is spru and an axle from a Corvette rear. The cross member is Evergreen C channel.
MrObsessive Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Love the details on this Dominick and the stance is terrific! That's how those B.M. cars sat-----VERY aggressively!
dragmodels44 Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 HA! I knew you’d build it! Looks awesome!

Superbird McMonte Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Anyone know why the pictures come out different sizes sometimes? Never mind, now they are all the same.... Edited January 25, 2019 by Superbird McMonte
kelson Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 You're a bold man to paint it black!,the one color I try to avoid!

I'm not necessarily a fan of the color itself, but I've done a few, and one advantage is it's very easy to touch up, as Los Bravos taught us back in 1966.
