Mueller Brothers USAC Firebird

This is my friends dads old Firebird. Was the USAC Champ in 1981. Old MPC Firebird body stretched 1/8 inch between the frt tires and doors. MPC NASCAR chassis. Amt tires wheels are from 2 Monogram 64 GTO kits. Engine from an Amt NASCAR Grand Prix. Custom decals.

Excellent build, Tim. Don't see a lot of Firebirds built this way. Very interesting and love your use of many kits to put this one together.

Very cool!  Why the stretch of the fenders, if you don't mind me asking?  Was the real car lengthened?  Nice work on the decals.

That’s how the real car was done. I had to do it or the  Bob Fish sponsor wouldn’t fit. Here is the real car

Interesting.  Must have been a spec wheelbase the cars had to adhere to, then they made the body fit.

Excellent workmanship. It's cool you could replicate your friend's, Dad's car. A seldom seen type of race car. Awesome!!!

Not sure on that but USAC rules were a lot looser than nascars
