yellowsportwagon Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 This is my friends dads old Firebird. Was the USAC Champ in 1981. Old MPC Firebird body stretched 1/8 inch between the frt tires and doors. MPC NASCAR chassis. Amt tires wheels are from 2 Monogram 64 GTO kits. Engine from an Amt NASCAR Grand Prix. Custom decals.
MarkJ Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Excellent build, Tim. Don't see a lot of Firebirds built this way. Very interesting and love your use of many kits to put this one together.
bbowser Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Very cool! Why the stretch of the fenders, if you don't mind me asking? Was the real car lengthened? Nice work on the decals.

Here is the real car Edited December 31, 2018 by yellowsportwagon Add
bbowser Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Interesting. Must have been a spec wheelbase the cars had to adhere to, then they made the body fit.
DPNM Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Excellent workmanship. It's cool you could replicate your friend's, Dad's car. A seldom seen type of race car. Awesome!!!

Daddy Mack Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Nice Work on the stretch and everywhere else. Always a thrill to see an obscure (to most of us) subject!
