James Tester Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 This is the Revell of Germany Ferrari F430 Spyder kit. I painted the body with Cobra Colors Grigio Titanio lacquer and cleared it with PPG Urathane clear. Here is the finished interior. I used Tamiya Acrylic flat red and worked it over with some finger oil to give it a little bit of sheen. The carbon fiber decals are from Scale Motorsport and the photoetched stuff is from Crazy Modeler.
MonoPed Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Lookin good!! Not normally a fan of red interiors, but it looks really cool with the body color you've chosen..
ismaelg Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 James, Welcome aboard!! That 430 is looking great! That color combo is amazing on Ferraris. Can't wait to see it finished! Thanks,
MrObsessive Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Hi James! Beautiful work so far! But I wouldn't expect anything less from you!
Wildrice Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Nice looking build. The colors go great together.
Stingray69 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I don't know much about these types of cars but that is very clean work! 8)
Tom Kren Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Nice job what color red is that for the interior?
James Tester Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 I got some time to do a little more work on the Ferrari. Here is the finished engine. I used several different shades of metallizers to shade the metallic finishes and the Crazy modeler photoetched parts to add a little style to the basically box stock engine. Next up is the front suspension, paint and attach the photoetched grilles and then final assembly... James
ismaelg Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Looking good James! I have one in the pipeline, but not a convertible. My plan is to do it silver with either red or black interiors. Thanks,
James Tester Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 I decided to take a few pictures of the progress that I have made before I wrap up this project. I used the Crazy Modeler brakes with some parts box wheel adapters and brake shoes. The wheels will glue to the center hubs. The rear windscreen was scratch built with some mesh I had laying around and some clear acetate for the window. Some Pegasus rims donated their sleeves to dress up the stock rims. I also swapped out the front tires for the larger/wider Pegasus tires.
ismaelg Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Looking GREAT! Can't wait to see it finished! Thanks,
crispy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 James, your F430 looks fantastic! I have one planned too, in exactly the same color. Part of my Miami Vice builds. I have to finish the Testarossa before I can get to it though. Look forward to seeing the assembled masterpiece! Chris
