I'm a collector of......
Die-cast cars
Radios
Cameras
Movie Projectors
Typewriters
Old Photos
Vinyl LPs
And VHS

This is my Holy Grail of all my wanted VHS tape movies. Movies you can only get on VHS. Sure, Gone has been redone in glorious fashion. And from my 2nd photo I have just about every variation including the other 2 1/2 movies Toby made. Don't care for the remake.

Too find this original VHS of the un-restored, mono soundtrack with the original car sounds and a few songs that got cut out of the restored version, is a dream come true for me. I remember seeing this in the theater and then renting a tape like this back in 1989 when the second VHS tape release came out. Great stuff.

These have sold on E-Bay for as high as $45.......got this one at a thrift shop.....4 VHS movies for $1.98. Took me 30 years to find this tape.

PS........I'll see if I can dupe this onto a DVD.

Cool that you collect radios.  I have one, but it's a good one. :D

[not my pic but mine is in as good of shape or a bit better]

Congrats on scoring your Holy Grail movie! Mine was the original Assault on Precinct 13, and I was looking for it long before its revival, cult fandom and remake. An online friend finally located me one in some obscure bargain bin around 2000.

That's the REAL Gone in 60 seconds!!!!  Most folks do not know that the VHS is a completely different movie than the DVD release that was 'restored' by HB's wife and issued. There were issues with the sound track, legal and quality wise, so she had it redone start to finish.......which in many peoples opinion, including mine, ruined the film and made it something different than HB had made.

Is there a way to post a photo of the box back??? It is claimed that this VHS was a bootleg and done without the HB estate.

GREAT catch!!!

BTW: HB came to Charlotte to promote the film.....and I saw him at a local gas station. My brush with fame!

Thanks guys.

From my reserch this is the 3rd release on VHS. The first is super hard to find from 1983. The second came out in 1989 from Media and the tape runs in SP mode (2 HR), same cover as mine. The 3rd tape (mine) is from Video Treasures (VT bought the rights from Media) 1990 and runs in the cost effective LP mode (4 HR).

I do believe the first issue was a bootleg from Full Throttle Films (electronic rental company that put films onto VHS for renting).

This is the only photo I have found of the first cover. BETA of all things! LOL

Not sure which of the above versions it is, but I just discovered that the original movie can now be watched on Amazon Prime!
