bandit1 Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Looking good, Not sure but if you want to get it color matched take the cab to a paint supply store for automotive paints and they have a machine they can then try to determine "Exact/Close enough for Gov't work" color(s) to look for? I wonder what i did with my Cornbinder project? I was doing some custom stuff to it then disappeared b/w moves??? Edited April 12, 2019 by bandit1
TECHMAN Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Oh man... Sorry to hear about the hood!!!! Sounds like one of my "put-it-up-where-I-could-find-it-easy" deals.... Got faith in ya tho, waiting to see new progress... DJ

Sam I Am Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 After a very long discouraging time, I gave up on matching the paint. I bought numerous different bottles, but nothing was close enough to any of the colors, and that would look worse than nothing at all. So I am going with the suggestion of a flat black hood assembly. The sleeper doors are already off a bit in color and the one has some paint flaked off. So along with the various chips here and there, I think it will be ok for now. If I ever do find matching pain, I can always paint it then. Right now it just feels good to get another stalled project out from the cupboard of doom. 1
Sam I Am Posted April 14, 2022 Author Posted April 14, 2022 Just a couple more little things and I will call it finished.

Just guessing, but judging by the age of the build, it's possibly Testors paints. Testors spray cans: S1241 Wood Tan. S1629 Ruby Red Metallic. S1628 Competition Orange. S1214 Gloss Yellow. It also looks like he was a master at laying down a good pinstripe. If it turns out that you have to repaint everything, that would be the time to open up the sleeper to show off all the detail inside.
