Snoopy47 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Well, I have changed my mind yet again and now I am back to a pro street setup for this project. I am kit bashing from an and old glue bombed Charles Carpenter 55 and a Rob Vandergriff 57 to pull this together. I still have a long ways to go but this is a start. Here's the 1:1 look I'm hoping for:
Snoopy47 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Here's a few more. Still want to get the front end down some more, I think the rear end is sitting pretty good. The wheelbase is slightly off as well, still a lot of work do to on this one. Edited April 12, 2019 by Snoopy47
Snoopy47 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) Well here is my first attempt at using HVAC foil tape (Lowe's 3M tape) for the aluminum finish. I used popsicle sticks for doing edges. I plan to do the entire chassis pan areas with this tape. Edited April 13, 2019 by Snoopy47

That tape is great to get that shinny aluminum look. You did a great job. Can't wait to see the finished pan.I've used different tapes. Some work, and some don't.

The only issue with this tape is I have to steel wool off the "3M" printing but its not bad.
NYLIBUD Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) Ive used chrome tape that you would get at Pep Boys, etc.Weird though, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.The kits chassis/(tubs) that you are using, looks the best and most realistic, with the tape.IMO. Edited April 14, 2019 by NYLIBUD
Snoopy47 Posted April 15, 2019 Author Posted April 15, 2019 Well, after losing all my patience with the "glue-bombed" tubular front end. I tossed it and went with the original front suspension. I added the polystyrene tubes to help it look a little more realistic and will probably add a couple more later. I know it's not a typical true to life way of doing this but it's ok for me. I wish it was lower in the front but I am beginning to like it as is so this will more than likely be the way it sits from here on out.
NYLIBUD Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 The new pictures you posted are a little messed up.But it looks good so far.
Wm David Green Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 This looks really nice, great color. Carry on the good work, looking forward to how this turns out.
Brutalform Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Coming along nicely. That is the perfect color for an old GTO.
Snoopy47 Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 Thanks everyone. It is slow for me but little by little I will get it done.
Snoopy47 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Thanks Dan. Still a long way to go but I like it so far.
TarheelRick Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Really wicked looking pro-street. I hope you have plans to add some form of front fender supports.

Thanks Rick. Indeed I do. Not sure just yet how I want to do it but there will be some kind of reinforcing structure for the front clip.
