  1. I really like what you've done with this model, and as a military modeller I always wondered about using that shade of dark yellow as a commercial car colour. It looks great, and those wheels hubs are just right. Outstanding work. Thank you.
  2. You did a Great job in rescuing a really messed up old model. I'm more than impressed.👏
  3. This is quite amazing work, converting from Pontiac to Buick. Well done. I have the old AMT Pontiac 65 GTO, I'll be lucky if it turns out AS a Pontiac! Those inaccurate rear lights and panel, oh man, back in the box every time!!
  4. Bring them on Alan, looking forward to seeing your work. I joined this site some time back and still haven't got round to finishing a project, shame on me. I'll try my best to put that right.
  5. Some nice photos here. I have the old and new boxings of this kit, so I'm just waiting for inspiration.
  6. This has been a great build, it has restored my faith in these older kits with one piece chassis. Your paintwork is superb. I haven't been on this site for some months due to other pressures and work etc. I messed up the doors on my AMT '56 Ford and ended up gluing them closed (I know this is a different kit). I'll do better next time. I have two more '56s and three '57s, all AMT kits, in my unbuilt stash. Well done, thank you for the inspiration.
  7. Superb Monte Carlo build and paint, that red and yellow scheme really pops. You are so on top of this.
  8. Asmir, this is a beautiful model, inspirational build and finish. I'm in a COVID19 lock-down rut at the moment, lacking 'drive' so to speak, so thank you.
  9. Great looking model, the tire change makes a big difference. I think a few 1/25 muscle car kits have under size wheels and tires in any case.
  10. Fantastic project and great execution, nice work so far.
  11. Now that's a really good looking car. Wondering if this tooling is still in existence ? Only recently appreciating that were still cool looking autos in the 1970's, but possibly not so many after 1977.
  12. Superb, another outstanding NASCAR racer from a skilled builder.
  13. Thanks to all who have posted pics of these 'cars', the cause of nightmares ! Here in UK there are special occasion car hire companies who have fake generic 1900's to '30's veteran style bodywork on modern chassis. Just so some easily pleased dimwit can say "ooh look! how nice we got an old fashioned car for the wedding!" Puhleeease Nooooo!!!!.
  14. A superb looking car, great conversion and finish. You're work is prolific, and excellent. So, that's a rare Johan kit I have to look for, on the plus side I already have the roof (still attached to the 67 Impala!).
  15. This has been a great post, superb build. The re-chromed parts look fantastic. I hope I can achieve similar results with my projects. Sincerely. David
  16. That's a gorgeous job you've done. Must admit I have the same kit in my stash, and other than re-engraving the near invisible door outlines, (presumably lost due to mold wear?), it's not been taken further.
  17. This has been a great tutorial, and your observations on what to spend time on, or not, has been really helpful. I haven't quite yet acquired 'the eye' for car detail, so can get flummoxed at what needs attention most to make a model auto really pop. I spent many years studying reference material on WW 2 tanks, whereas my car knowledge is still in it's elementary stage.
  18. I've had the 2004 issue AMT/Ertl version 38157 for a while, in addition to the (almost) correct Daisy Duke version. Even though it's hailed as a great donor chassis, I did not really want to sacrifice a '71 Charger kit to improve the 2004 issue RR kit. Luckily I just found the correct 1973/74 RR chassis and dash parts, from the most recent MPC issue, purchased week before last from an online seller in the US. I would like to remove some of the moulded on details and add a more detailed rear differential drive and front suspension.
  19. These are great pics. These sort of cars get my NASCAR juices going. Would these cars have run on slightly modified stock chassis, or completely scratch built frames ? Thanks David G.
  20. Your builds give me NASCAR fever! I've started collecting 1990's AMT/ERTL T'bird, Grand Prix, and Monte Carlo/Lumina kits, off e-bay, for guidance and parts. This is one impressive car.
  21. Just yesterday, opened up an old 'new' AMT 6529, 'Cougar CJ428', (c)1993, red car model photo box, bought this kit off e-bay. The chrome parts looked fine, until I started snipping off the front grill/bumper part's from the sprue, and found that the plating, along with the varnish/glue, came off in dry flakes with my fingernail. It could be that long term storage in extreme temperatures affected the plated parts, the decal sheet had brown spotting (mould?) on it. Thought this was worth pointing out as this is the second time where this has happened, - previously on a Lindberg '64 'Plymouth Belvedere', and the plating could not be saved. For comparison checked two other Cougar kits, AMT 6960 'Eliminator' (c) 1991 boxing and another 'CJ428', where the chrome parts are fine.
  22. Thanks for the recommendation, afx, not many of this era Revell/Monogram NASCAR kits here in UK. Definitely won't bother with this particular AMT/ERTL kit, found a picture of contents and body shell doesn't look good. I have recently acquired a few second hand AMT/ERTL 1/25 early 1990'S NASCAR kits, mainly for donor parts, but plan to build at least the Pontiac Richard Petty STP GP, and the Kodak Chevy Lumina from this stash.
  23. 'Mad Mike' would have probably carried on, and on, until he had built a bigger rocket in order to hit the moon and make it ring like a bell.
  24. I suspect this is a simplified kit, is the body shell good, and worth purchasing for cross kitting purposes?
