  1. This is great. Another inspirational build, love the color, the white roof works perfect with the green.
  2. Excellent job, you really put some work into this. I would have be totally demoralised having to sand down and scrape paint and decals. I recently attempted to strip a horrible paint job from a part-built Revell-Monogram 69 Shelby Mustang GT500, but still had some sanding to do. (* To be fair I got this kit free with another GT500 kit from the seller, as the tail light parts were missing) Seems having assembled the motor halves, someone then sprayed the body black, but possibly disappointed by the satin finish (?) then brushed/slopped on some thick, and gloopy, gloss black enamel. This apparently was not fully dried when the kit was shelved, and when I received the kit part of the instruction sheet was firmly stuck to the roof, this was the part that resisted paint stripper. Nerve wracking or what !
  3. This looks really nice, great color. Carry on the good work, looking forward to how this turns out.
  4. Those custom wheels really make this barge go.
  5. Welcome Dave S. This is the best there is, I love Model Cars Mag forums, always something of interest and plenty of stuff to look at, with very informed and helpful contributors, I speak as someone who knew very little about car related stuff, and is now obsessive about the subject, muscle cars, hot rods, Tri - Five Chevys, Dodge Darts, Ford Fairlanes, Galaxies, Plymouth GTXs, Roadrunners, MOPAR, NASCAR and so on. NB I used to visit a military vehicle modelling site, (which will remain un-named!) and while there were some helpful folk there, sadly there were some unpleasant characters who were intolerant of those who were not in the know.
  6. Excellent job, really nice color choice. Currently I have two versions stashed of the recent re-pop, one in white plastic, other in metallic aqua. I notice there are extra parts in the large flat box version (white plastic). I might use the modern wheels from the Revell's 'California Wheels' issue '62 Impala and see if they go with the Grand Prix, as I intend to use PPP's Holman Moody 9" wheels and tires with the Chevy.
  7. I think you have a point, even though I started this post. My custom kit would be a heck of a lot milder, I didn't even notice the gull wing doors when I found this. The basic '53 Victoria is a really nice car. In reality I kind of hope it would be possible to do this sort of custom work from another source, without desecrating a nice original.
  8. I would like to see a new Plymouth Fury, 1965 model, if not all of the '62 to '68 versions. The Jo-Han molds are presumably now lost, and obviously second hand kits/promos are next to none, or very few at a premium price.
  9. While looking for customising ideas for the Lindberg 53 Ford Vicky, found this beauty.
  10. Dave G. Think you are spot on with this advice, problem solved ! If I need to cut away any plastic from the outer part of frame I'll simply add the equivalent thickness to the inner part with plastic card. Having looked at other contributor's custom builds on other MCM forums, I am now even more inspired. Thank you Wm D Green
  11. Many thanks for the replies, some sound ideas to go with. Wm D Green
  12. How would do you modify the chassis of Lindberg's 53 Ford Vicky to accept wider wheels?, such as AMT's Custom 15" Polyglas or Wide Ovals. The chassis wheel wells are too narrow, especially the rear. I presume some cutting or grinding of the wells will be necessary, but what about the frame which is molded as part of the chassis? Thank you Wm David Green
  13. Really nice work, great colors. I have a couple of these kits in my stash, and am looking for inspiration as to the color options.
  14. Good grief Charlie Brown ! Really just awful, but somebody will like it, unfortunately. It makes me sad to think of all the great cars that have passed on or are currently fading away in scrap yards.
  15. Sincere thanks to Steve and Bucky for replying. I can only live in hope as I am a average model builder with advanced modelling delusions! Wm David
  16. Very happy with these recent acquisitions. The Perfect Plastic Productions NASCAR tires & Holman Moody 9" wheels, are to replace those of the Lindberg/AMT 1961 Impala and AMT 1962 Bel Air. These PPP goodies are a new discovery for me, love 'em, vast improvement over kit wheels & tires, and have ordered more as I am now planning to change wheels on other kits. I don't like skinny little wheels on big American cars !
  17. I'm still a relative newcomer to model car kits, so forgive my ignorance here. Having read the previous info about using Lindberg's 64 Dodge/Plymouth kits for parts in conjunction with the Jo-Han model, what I would just like to know if there is an another route to making a 1965 Fury from another similar vehicle by kit-bashing, assuming the Jo-Han model is now well and truly extinct. It's a great looking car, so it's a shame that there is no current kit is out there.
  18. Here in the UK there are ebay sellers asking three to four times, and upwards, from the RRP, for very recent model kits, and other "collectable" items. I suspect It could well be be a scam by certain sellers involved with 'business expenses' claims at the very least, or illicit money movement and money laundering - but that's just my opinion.
  19. Very nice model, hope I can achieve this standard as I'm still a relative newbie to 1/25 cars. Sincerely, Wm David Gtreen
  20. Many thanks to you all for replying, at least now I have something to go forward with. Sincerely, Dave Green
  21. I recently got a second hand 1/25 Revell 65 Chevelle Z-16, I knew kit was not complete - it was advertised as having a 'replacement resin hood'. Bad news is this is not the real story, someone has butchered the forward part of the car body, and the "replacement resin hood" is in fact a plastic piece from a different kit altogether, crudely whittled with glass paper and a small folding pen knife ( found in the box!), the 65 grill is nowhere to be seen, and a grill unit from an AMT(?) 64 Malibu/Chevelle included. Is it actually possible to convert this model to the 64 Chevelle / Malibu ? or should I just accept I've got some more spares. Thank you Dave Green
  22. I have two of the older version of the AMT 57 Chevy, the Lesney/Matchbox era kit in tan styrene, plus the more recent "Pepper Shaker" Round2 repop. My first question is should the chrome plating for the stock engine and suspension parts be removed? Also neither of the instruction sheets appears to give detailed color call outs for the engine components or chassis. I have the Revell Chevy Black Widow 150 Sedan, would the engine & chassis color call outs in these instructions be applicable to the Bel Air. Thank you Wm David
  23. Some more info, in the spirit of "physician heal thyself". Just got Revell's '69 Nova 2 in 1 kit, and it has 7"(?) Drag slicks. So might use these on the '64 Fairlane, or use them as a guide to cutting down the larger slicks.
  24. Gentlemen and Scholars, Thank you for answering, I have enough info now to take this further. Dave Green Somewhere North of Hadrian's Wall
  25. I recently got the Revell's 64 Ford Fairlane "Thunderbolt" kit. I want to make a custom hot rod using the drag option engine parts, but I don't want to use either of the kit's tire options, the stock tires are too small for my taste, and the Drag tires are too 'extreme'. I have a couple of wheel options from other kits in mind, such as the custom ones from the AMT 67 Chevelle. The larger tires from Revell's 69 Shelby Mustang look just right but might be too wide ? Any suggestions on credible larger size of custom wheels and/or tires that would fit ?
