  1. Toriano, This is truly great model making. I am completely blown away at your ability to completely scratch that frame. David
  2. What a relief! I am trying to have fun with this hobby, but the ultra accuracy gremlins/trolls have been gnawing at the door. I am fairly knowledgeable but not infallible, I hope am always polite (I am on the Asperger's scale so I can't always gauge how I come across sometimes). I recently posted an opinion on a military modelling site, about a particular WW2 tank kit compared to a photo of the real steel, version, features, period of production etc, - the responses were very curt, abrupt even; "No, No, not possible", "Hey, this kit was based on expert research by (name)", "What have you posted this here for", Go away and don't bother us. So that's it, it's now time to have fun with this hobby, be it cars, them darned tanks, or even airplanes, build to your ability, what pleases you, not someone else's idea of best.
  3. Recent release by Revell (Germany). It's a reissue of the Monogram 1:24 scale kit, originally released in 1977 -78. Back when, my dad made me buy one because he thought I was too obsessed with aircraft and military models. It was the 1978, or '79, issue in blue plastic. I was really disappointed, because either I couldn't get it to look like the model on the cover, or I wanted it to have bigger wheels on the back.
  4. Another great model super color choice and those Dart wheels just go!
  5. Resurrected this post while searching for ideas for the Revell 1968 Charger. Great car, great build, and color, and lowering the son of a gun! Now that's more like it!
  6. This is a truly great build. Fantastic job all round, that color pops, really glad you managed to replace the cracked glass. I have the AMT '67 Impala SS, unfortunately the 'street machine' version with the not so good custom wheels, and I need some inspiration before tackling it.
  7. Fantastic Ford, great color choice. Those Pegasus wheels look great. Modern wheels don't always work with older cars, but when they do, they rock.
  8. These acquired over the weekend. Both kits were second hand, and were intact. Pontiac was mint, the Dodge had suffered in storage but thankfully only the decals were really affected, slightly yellowed and cracked. Both kits came with "F70-15" tires, with molded on manufacturer details, that I believe have been blanked off by Revellogram in later issues.
  9. Great looking Merc. You made a good choice with the interior color and the tires, much nicer than those in the kit .
  10. Thanks to all you good people for your information and opinions. Chris, your '64 Caddy is great. And yes I agree that the stance is important, if it looks killer that's half the battle. David
  11. Please check out "Flesh+ Blood" , Rutger Hauer's 1985 film about mercenaries in 16th Century Europe. Romantic, erotic and bloody adventure, no holds barred, so if you are easily offended stay away. This was director Paul Verhoeven's first wholly English language movie, Verhoeven and Hauer had previously worked together in their native Netherlands on film and tv since 1969. Co-starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ronald Lacey (Gestapo agent Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark). Lady Agnes' (Leigh) maid is played by Nancy Cartwright, better known as cartoon series voice actor, notably 'Bart Simpson'.
  12. Mark, Mike and Steve, thank you for the further information, at least I now know that the basic stance of these models needs to be corrected. Thankfully I have a few spare chassis and a growing spares box to work with. David
  13. Bill, This is useful information, I'm in the right direction. Kicking myself for missing out on the '62 Chrysler 300 from the same vendor, sold and gone. Many thanks David
  14. My other interests include 1/72 & 1/48 scale model aircraft, 1/35 scale tanks and military vehicles. I love music and have always had a decent hi-fi separates system, although I no longer keep up with the latest tech stuff. As well as classic rock and pop, I collect film scores/soundtracks and have a few hundred on cd. I have a small collection of guitars, including a gold top 2001 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, a black 1998 Gibson SG Standard and a cherry red 2002 Gibson '61 Standard re-issue. My dream purchase would be a Mellotron M4000D keyboard, to get those great ethereal string/brass sounds of late 1960's and 70's psych and prog rock. I currently get my keyboard kicks with a Roland JD-Xi mini synth.
  15. I recently got these two complete un-built kits; From previous posts I gather they're accurate body wise, but with very simplified chassis and interiors. What kits would be suitable donors for chassis & engines ? Thank you
  16. A really wicked Willys, great work, and that paint is smooth!
  17. Another great build Michelle. I said it before, but you sure work hard at this. Puts me to shame. I must try and just build the darn things, and not fuss over the non important stuff.
  18. Brilliant !, almost too crazy for words. Of course you know how to model dust !, your from Oz.
  19. UK 'Chrome' Remover If anyone is wondering what is suitable for removing model chrome here in UK, this stuff works well, if not quickly, in my opinion. Takes the chrome off in approx. two hours in some cases, and also the glue/varnish stuff in about 12 hours, depending. For example there was the same sort of yellow brown discoloration on the chrome for both an AMT '71 Duster ( 2001 Walmart style box), and the AMT '57 Chrysler 300C (1999 issue). Both sets went in to the Mr Muscle Power Gel on Saturday afternoon. The Duster chrome and glue took less than a day, however the 300C parts are still in the gel, chrome was gone yesterday (Sunday) morning but most of the glue was still there late afternoon.
  20. Hi Alan, that's the answer I was hoping for ! I've already tried PPP's NASCAR 60-64 & 65-69 style, treaded tires on some models, and they look great. I just wanted to try some other alternatives. I really don't like undersized, or skinny tires on American muscle cars, anything smaller than the L60-15 Polyglas, or G70-15's styles, just doesn't cut it, IMHO. David.
  21. Plastic Performance Products have a range of 1/24/1/25 scale Asphalt Modified Tires such as these. I realise that the real tires are primarily for dry asphalt surface road racing. My question is would these be credible alternatives for drag and NASCAR models, or for "unofficial" stock, custom, or hot rod race cars ?
  22. You're setting too high a standard, so just stop right now ! Seriously, nice body finish and interior details, this is great work.
  23. A superb build, I didn't know that the 1966 Olds' was used for a NASCAR racer.
  24. I have been looking at NASCAR builds to help me get started. This is another great model, I like how you managed to fit the wider tires.
  25. Looking for examples of NASCAR builds, and this one is absolutely perfect.
