vamach1 Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Any leads would be appreciated. It drives me nuts both the MPC and AMT 71-73 Mustangs both have resonators or the cherry bomb type mufflers instead of true dual exhaust oval mufflers. With at least a dozen versions I'm building I need a lot of mufflers that appear close to the ones in the picture.
espo Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 If you have any left over mufflers from other builds you could use them for a basis. I have used the mufflers from the Revell '56 and '57 Chevy kits by cutting then to the desired length and then capping them to make the ends match. I then drill holes or mounting pins to attach the exhaust pipes.

Anybody who has seen Diamonds are Forever Mustang trick driving, will notice these mufflers and not the glass packs that come in the kits. The MPC Cougar kit has the better mufflers. too much money for a kit just to get mufflers.

Bob Ellis Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 You know it went into the alley on it's right side and exited on it's left side as shown. Nobody seems to notice and they never re-shot the scene!
ChrisBcritter Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) No, to cover the mistake the crew just shot an insert with a closeup of Sean and Jill, rocking the camera to give the impression that the Mustang was going from side to side. Not too effective, with the number of folks still claiming there was a mistake! Back on topic: Rex (or anyone else), do you have the dimensions of those mufflers? Might help in the search if we all knew the size. Edited May 3, 2019 by ChrisBcritter
Bob Ellis Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 MAybe somebody can cast the 1971-1973 MPC Cougar exhaust?
