wardsmodelbuilder Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Here is my next project, I have been asked to strip and repaint a 1/8 scale Ford mustang diecast shell. It will be repainted in zero paints Candy Purple over a fine metallic silver, and will be finished with the stripes redone in silver. Thanks Chris www.wardsmodelbuilder.com wardsmodelbuilder@outlook.com
wardsmodelbuilder Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Body pieces have now dismantled so they are easier to work with and stripped of the original paint. Other than a couple of little marks the metal body is in good condition so I can now move on to primer. Chris http://www.wardsmodelbuilder.com wardsmodelbuilder@outlook.com
MrObsessive Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) Chris, you've got my attention as I have this very car, but I'll only rub out the finish that's on it as while it's not bad, it could stand a good rubbing out and polishing. As soon as I saw this topic I knew it was the DeAgostini '67 Shelby as they're the ONLY folks that are making such a beast. What did you use to strip the paint on such a large body? You're a brave man for taking on such a task! These kits aren't what I would call cheap, but I bought mine through a subscription and it's going to be a VERY SLOW build for sure. Keep us posted! You are correct it is the DeAgostini model. I have a client that collects these, he has many all complete. I will be doing the Mercedes 300SL next so look out for that when I start posting it. I use a varnish and paint remover that I can by here in the UK from our local hardware store. Just brush it on and after a few hours wash it off along with the old paint.
