mrmike Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 That's interesting! Must have been a revision made to the mold somewhere along the way and of course, we are the last ones to know.

Standard for 1969 Boss 302 were 15X7" Magnum 500 wheels, however these Magnums were painted with Argent, (Silver color), centers. Optional were Chrome Magnum 500 wheels with painted black centers. These chrome wheels carried over as an optional wheel for the 1970 model year.

Maybe the body was revised? I think so. I wonder why they didn't revise the interior tub though, cos it still had the roll bar mounts for the other model. I cut mine off and used some body filler.
mrmike Posted August 1, 2020 Author Posted August 1, 2020 The interior wasn't revised since it really wasn't needed to convert the kit from the Mach I to the Boss 302. Their main focus was to create the new nose piece and convert the model kit to a Boss 302. I used the interior roll bar mounts and mounted the roll bar anyway.
mrmike Posted August 6, 2020 Author Posted August 6, 2020 I took the hood out of the 91% alcohol and washed it good. It looked more like a hood off of a wreck in a bone yard. The last picture is after five minutes of sanding with 150 grit sandpaper. More sanding, a good bath and then primer and paint...again! More Boss 302 to come...
David Miller Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 The Revel ‘69Boss 302 , ‘69Mach 1 and the ‘69Shelby Convert&Fastback all share the same interior chassis and many parts . You will find parts from all 4 kits on the spruce trees in either kit . Most Boss 302 engines I’ve seen in real cars have cast aluminum rocker covers . Yes the boss 302 used Cleveland heads , and yes probably stamped steel rocker covers were used . The Mach1 and Shelby kits had 428 CobraJet engines .
mrmike Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 Revell's sharing one model kit to produce 3 others is basically a cost saving measure. The Boss 302 is one of those using the new body and nose piece and a few other parts.
mrmike Posted April 14, 2022 Author Posted April 14, 2022 I have been thinking about this kit for a few weeks and I should finish it. I may remove most or all of the BMF and start over again along with repainting and finishing the hood. 1
mrmike Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 I painted the hood yesterday afternoon. Not bad. Maybe another coat or two. 1
mrmike Posted March 30, 2023 Author Posted March 30, 2023 I spent a few minutes on the Boss 302 tonight. I added the lights and turn signals, stanchions for the rear spoiler and I masked the rear panel for some flat black paint. 2
mrmike Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) Thanks Jeremy! I have been doing some detailing and I need to add the headlight lenses and get rid of the dog hair! Edited April 1, 2023 by mrmike
